From Classroom to Crisis Response: AHSB Trains Community in Life-Saving Skills

2 min read

Shimla, February 24, 2026: Reinforcing the idea that education must prepare students for real-life challenges, Auckland House School for Boys conducted an intensive Basic Life Support (BLS) training programme for teachers and students, focusing on emergency readiness and on-campus safety. The initiative reflects the school’s growing emphasis on experiential learning and responsible citizenship.

Led by Anuradha, Head of Programs, with hands-on support from Priyanka and Shweta, the training prioritised practical preparedness over theory. Through live simulations and supervised practice, participants were trained to respond calmly and effectively during medical emergencies—an essential skill set in today’s fast-paced and unpredictable environments.

The workshop covered a wide range of critical interventions, including CPR techniques, managing choking incidents, controlling bleeding, handling fractures and amputations, responding to fainting and nosebleeds, and recognising signs of internal injuries. The emphasis remained on timely action until professional medical help arrives, empowering participants to become first responders in emergencies.

Anuradha noted that the programme marks a significant step under a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening the school’s safety ecosystem. She highlighted that building confidence and situational awareness among both educators and students is key to creating a secure learning space.

Principal Reuben John commended the initiative, stating that true education lies in nurturing alert, compassionate, and capable individuals. He added that such training instils responsibility and resilience—qualities that extend far beyond academic achievement.

By embedding life-saving skills into its educational culture, Auckland House School for Boys continues to model a holistic approach to learning—one that equips its community not just to excel, but to act decisively when it matters most.
