Shimla, Feb 19: District Police Shimla has taken strict action against drug trafficking by placing a repeat offender under preventive detention provisions of the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act. Accused Gagan Bhushan, a resident of Rohru subdivision, has been detained and sent to jail for three months due to his repeated involvement in heroin (chitta) and charas trafficking.

Police officials stated that despite multiple arrests under the ND&PS Act, the accused continued illegal drug activities. He had earlier been arrested in four separate cases between 2019 and 2023, with recoveries including heroin and cannabis.

The preventive detention aims to weaken drug supply networks and prevent future offences. District Police Shimla reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against narcotics and affirmed continued action to safeguard youth and maintain public safety.
