DC Jatin Lal Sets Example with Natural Farming in Una

1 min read

Una, Feb, 03, 2026 : Jatin Lal has set a powerful example by cultivating vegetables through natural farming at his official residence in Una. Cabbage, beetroot, tomato, radish, onion, turnip, garlic, coriander and potatoes are being grown using chemical-free methods, symbolizing the transition of government policies from paperwork to grassroots implementation.

The initiative reflects the vision of Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to promote natural farming across Himachal Pradesh. Jatin Lal said that healthy living begins with poison-free food, and natural farming offers both better health and richer taste while restoring soil fertility.

Officials informed that natural farming is being practiced on around 1,907 hectares in Una district, with over 14,240 farmers adopting this method. The state government is supporting farmers through subsidies for cowsheds, organic inputs, indigenous cattle purchase, and infrastructure.

The government has also fixed Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for naturally grown crops — wheat at ₹60 per kg, maize at ₹40 per kg, and raw turmeric at ₹90 per kg — ensuring better income security for farmers. Natural produce is being marketed under brands like “Him Bhog” and “Himachal Haldi”.

District administration continues to provide technical guidance, training, and financial assistance to expand natural farming as a sustainable livelihood model.
