Road Safety Month Concludes with Blood Donation and Eye Check-up Camp at Ridge

Shimla | January 31, 2026: As part of National Road Safety Month 2026, the District Road Safety Committee, Shimla, in collaboration with the Regional Transport Office, organised a one-day blood donation and eye check-up camp at the Ridge Ground. Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap attended as chief guest, while Senior Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi was present as special guest.
During the camp, 54 people voluntarily donated blood and 119 citizens underwent free eye examinations. The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the donors and emphasised that road safety is not just about following rules but about protecting lives.
Officials highlighted that throughout January, awareness drives were conducted across schools, colleges and public spaces focusing on helmet and seatbelt use, avoiding drunk driving, maintaining speed limits and following lane discipline.
Regional Transport Officer Vishu Mohan Dev Chauhan shared that in 2025, Shimla district recorded 268 road accidents, resulting in 102 deaths and 436 injuries, with overspeeding, wrong overtaking and mobile phone use being major causes.
