State-Level Republic Day Celebrations Held with Grandeur at Shimla’s Ridge Ground

Shimla, Jan 26, 2026: The state-level Republic Day celebrations were held with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit at the historic Ridge Ground in Shimla, under the chairmanship of Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla. Lady Governor Janki Shukla, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, and PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh were among the distinguished dignitaries present.
The event featured an impressive march past by defence forces, police units, NCC, NSS, Home Guards and disaster response teams, led by Parade Commander Lieutenant Shashwat Tiwari of J&K Rifles.
A major highlight was the vibrant display of departmental tableaux, showcasing themes such as the anti-chitta campaign, rural economy, scientific horticulture, adventure tourism, women welfare schemes, electric vehicles, disaster preparedness, green energy initiatives, startup promotion, animal welfare, tobacco-free Himachal and quality education.
Cultural troupes from Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana, Uttarakhand and the North Zone Cultural Centre Patiala enthralled the audience with colourful performances. A powerful street play by Himachal Police IRBN Una conveyed a strong message against drug abuse.
Governor and Chief Minister also honoured Ritik Chauhan of Chaupal, Shimla district with the Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak 2024 for bravely saving two children from an oncoming train.
Senior ministers, legislators, senior administrative and police officers, and civic officials attended the ceremony.
