1 min read

Palampur, Jan 24, 2026 : In a step towards eco-friendly tourism and clean mobility, Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) today inaugurated five battery-operated electric vehicles for use at its major hospitality units. The initiative was formally launched by R. S. Bali, with the main inauguration held at Tea Bud Palampur, while vehicles at other locations were flagged off online.

The electric vehicles have been deployed at The Palace Chail, Tea Bud Palampur, Devdar Khajjiar, and New Ros Common Kasauli to facilitate smooth internal movement for guests and visitors. Each 6-seater EV has a maximum speed of 25 kmph and can cover around 60 km on a single charge, making them ideal for short-distance, on-campus transportation.

Officials said the vehicles will significantly benefit senior citizens and elderly tourists, offering comfortable, noise-free, and easy mobility within HPTDC premises. The move also aligns with the state’s broader vision of electric vehicle transition and pollution-free transport, reinforcing HPTDC’s commitment to sustainable tourism practices.
