Shimla, Jan 07 , 2026 : BJP state president Rajeev Bindal said that rural employment generation in Himachal Pradesh has doubled under the Modi government, with mandays increasing from 16.52 lakh to 32.6 lakh. Addressing a press conference, he said the Viksit Bharat–Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission (Rural), known as VB–G RAM JI, marks a new era for rural India by linking employment directly with development.
Bindal said the new scheme provides a legal guarantee of 125 days of employment, compared to 100 days under MGNREGA, and is fully technology-driven with biometric attendance, digital monitoring and time-bound payments. He added that Himachal Pradesh will benefit from a favourable 90:10 Centre–State funding pattern, unlike the 60:40 ratio for other states.
Citing figures, Bindal said the NDA government has spent significantly more on rural employment and created higher mandays than the previous UPA regime. He said VB–G RAM JI, with an outlay of around ₹1.5 lakh crore, focuses on rural infrastructure, water conservation, environmental protection and livelihoods, and will play a key role in achieving the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.
