71 Donate Blood at Ridge to Honour Guru Tegh Bahadur’s Martyrdom

Shimla, Jan 01, 2026 : Marking 350 years of the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur, Umang Foundation, in collaboration with local Gurdwaras, organised a blood donation camp at the Ridge on New Year’s Day. Despite the biting cold, 71 people voluntarily donated blood.
The camp was inaugurated by visually impaired assistant professors Dr. Muskan Negi and Pratibha Thakur, who led by example by donating blood themselves. The event began with an ardas by Granthi Avtar Singh, while the IGMC Blood Bank team, led by Dr. Aastha Paul, managed blood collection. Umang Foundation President Prof. Ajay Srivastava said the camp was organised to pay tribute to Guru Tegh Bahadur’s supreme sacrifice for the protection of faith and human values.
