Labour Welfare Board Extends Lifeline to Bereaved Worker’s Family in Hamirpur

Hamirpur, December 23, 2025:
The Himachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board has provided crucial financial support to Sumna Devi of Ghurarla village in Bharedi area, Hamirpur, after the untimely death of her husband left her solely responsible for three children and elderly in-laws.
Registered with the Welfare Board along with her late husband Praveen Kumar, Sumna Devi received ₹2.20 lakh as ex-gratia assistance following his death, helping the family cope with severe financial distress. She has also applied for educational assistance for her children, including her eldest daughter pursuing BSc Nursing, a son studying in Class XI, and a younger daughter.
Additionally, she has sought ₹3 lakh housing assistance from the Board to rebuild her dilapidated home. Officials said the Board’s welfare schemes continue to act as a safety net for registered workers and their families during times of crisis.
