PWD Clerical Association Urges Minister to Reconsider Abolition of Superintendent Grade-II Posts

1 min read

Una, December 23, 2025:
The Himachal Pradesh Public Works Department Clerical Association has urged PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh to reconsider the proposal to abolish **56 Superintendent Grade-II posts**, terming it unjust and harmful to departmental functioning. Association President **Tara Singh** said the department is already operating with limited staff and removal of these posts would adversely impact daily operations, efficiency, and workload distribution.

He stated that Superintendent Grade-II posts have long been part of the sanctioned cadre and serve as a crucial promotion avenue for senior assistants. Abolishing them before convening the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) would severely affect promotion prospects, cause financial losses, and demoralise employees—especially those nearing retirement who depend on promotions for better pay and pension benefits. The association appealed to the minister to consider the matter sympathetically.
