Bilaspur, December 21, 2025:
Aman Sharma, a 25-year-old resident of Rohal village in Jhandutta sub-division, has realised his long-held dream of building a home—thanks to the Mukhyamantri Sukh Aashray Yojana, a flagship welfare initiative of the Himachal Pradesh Government. Under the scheme, Aman received ₹3 lakh financial assistance to construct his own house, transforming a life marked by hardship into one filled with dignity, stability, and hope.
Aman lost both parents at a very young age — his father when he was just two-and-a-half years old and his mother a year later. Raised by his grandparents and uncle, he began working early to support himself and currently earns his livelihood as a taxi driver. Despite his resilience, inadequate housing continued to be a major challenge. His family home was in such poor condition that living there posed serious risk.
For the first time, he has received government support through the Sukh Aashray Scheme, which not only sanctioned funds for house construction but also provides ₹4,000 monthly assistance to cover his essential needs. Aman expressed deep gratitude to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu for supporting thousands like him who fall under the ‘Children of the State’ category. He has already received ₹2.5 lakh in three instalments, with the remaining ₹50,000 to follow.
District Programme Officer Harish Mishra said Bilaspur district currently has 166 beneficiaries under the scheme, including 23 individuals receiving housing support. Others have been assisted under education, marriage, vocational training, start-up funding and coaching categories.
Deputy Commissioner Bilaspur Rahul Kumar stated that the administration is committed to ensuring that every eligible beneficiary receives timely assistance under the scheme, along with additional support such as start-up funding, educational aid, housing grants and exposure visits for children in shelter homes.
Aman’s journey is a powerful example of how public welfare schemes can restore hope, strengthen livelihoods, and change lives — transforming vulnerable citizens into confident, self-reliant individuals.
