Jairam Thakur Slams Sukhu Government Over ‘Moral and Administrative Decline’, Raises Alarm on Drug Menace

1 min read

Shimla, December 16, 2025:
Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur strongly criticised the Sukhu government and the Congress party, alleging that they have crossed all limits of political and moral conduct. He accused government departments of being misused for political propaganda instead of focusing on governance, calling it a sign of “systemic decay.”

Highlighting the drug menace, Thakur said the government’s seriousness is limited to events and headline management, while overdose deaths continue to occur in the state. He alleged that officers taking action against drugs were transferred under political pressure and claimed that several initiatives launched by the previous BJP government—including the Anti-Narcotics Task Force, Integrated Drug Prevention Policy, and Drug-Free Himachal App—have been rendered ineffective.

He further stated that the lack of rehabilitation facilities, closure of skill development and self-employment schemes, and inaction on youth engagement have worsened the situation, pushing Himachal towards a drug crisis.

Meanwhile, Jai Ram Thakur also met BJP’s newly appointed National Executive President Nitin Naveen in Delhi, congratulating him on assuming office and expressing confidence that the party would scale new heights under his leadership.
