State Food Commission organizes workshop on Health & Nutrition

Chairman State Food Commission Dr. S.P. Katyal presided over a one-day Workshop on Health & Nutrition held here on Monday. The workshop was designed to equip frontline workers with deeper insights into nutrition, improved health practices, and the major initiatives being undertaken by the government in this sector.

Dr. Katyal appreciated the sincere efforts of the frontline workers and urged them to apply the learning’s of the workshop in their day-to-day field activities to improve health indicators at the grassroots level. A total of 38 participants, including ASHA workers, mid-day meal workers, and angan-wadi workers attended the workshop. They were trained on identifying nutrition-related issues, maintaining field records and strengthening community outreach.

Member Secretary, State Food Commission Yogesh Chauhan emphasized the importance of effective inter-departmental coordination for improving nutritional outcomes in the state.

Representatives from the Women & Child Development Department, Health Department, PM Poshan and IGMC Shimla shared key insights on balanced nutrition, maternal and child health, mid-day meal standards and community-level best practices.

Later, an interactive session with participants acknowledging the usefulness of the programme was held. The participants suggested the regular conduction of such trainings for wider impact.
