Shimla Dec 3
The Deputy Commissioner of Shimla, Anupam Kashyap, held a review meeting with patwaris of Kumarsain subdivision, directing them to ensure timely reporting of critical issues and to improve efficiency in revenue functioning. He expressed concern over Shimla district’s low ranking in the Good Governance Index, stressing the need for stricter discipline and presence in patwar circles.
The DC noted major lapses in record maintenance, revealing that several patwaris had not made entries in the mandated 12 registers for years. He instructed that all entries must be updated immediately and warned of action for non-compliance. Kashyap also asked patwaris to protect the rights of small landowners and ensure that both state and central welfare schemes reach eligible beneficiaries. A status report on upgrading 21 patwar offices has been sought within three days.
During inspection of the rural revenue office, the DC checked land records and directed proper upkeep.
Later, in a surprise visit to GSSS Matiyana, the DC interacted with students, urging them to stay away from drugs and support the government’s *Chitta-Mukt Himachal* campaign. He stressed that any drug-related information must be shared with teachers and authorities promptly. He administered an anti-drug pledge and inspected staff attendance registers.
The DC also visited the Narkanda Police Post, where he found that a damaged retaining wall posed a threat to the building. He assured that necessary action would be taken soon.
