MSME Awareness Workshop Boosts Entrepreneurship in Kullu

The Department of Industries, Government of Himachal Pradesh, successfully conducted an awareness workshop today in Kullu district, aimed at empowering Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), fostering entrepreneurship, and creating a conducive ecosystem for industrial growth in the state.
The event witnessed participation from representatives of various government departments and industrial organizations. Key attendees included Mr. P.L. Negi, General Manager, District Industries Centre, Kullu; Mr. S.S. Shinde, Assistant Manager (Commercial), National Handloom Development Corporation Ltd.; and Mr. Somesh Sharma, Manager, District Industries Centre, Kullu.
Over 60 participants, including MSMEs, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and cooperatives, actively engaged in the workshop. Departmental experts provided detailed insights into the Micro and Small Enterprise Cluster Development Programme (MSME-CDP), covering its provisions, benefits, and objectives. The workshop emphasized key areas such as Minimum Support Price (MSP), cluster-based development, enhancing competitiveness, and promoting environmentally sustainable production practices.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. P.L. Negi, GM, DIC Kullu, stated:
“The Government of India’s initiative to develop micro and small enterprises through a cluster-based approach is highly commendable. In Himachal Pradesh, the Department of Industries’ effective implementation of this program is a significant step towards making local enterprises more empowered, capable, and competitive.”
The discussions also focused on the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) Scheme, circular economy-driven industrial development, resource efficiency, productivity enhancement, and strengthening small businesses. Participants shared valuable suggestions highlighting the need for greater collaboration, skill development, and innovation within the MSME sector.
Through this initiative, the Department of Industries reaffirmed its commitment to continuous dialogue, knowledge sharing, and effective policy implementation to promote sustainable growth in the MSME sector. The Department further emphasized its vision to advance Himachal Pradesh as a hub of innovation, competitiveness, and sustainable industrial development.
