Four-Lane Construction Halted After Road Collapse in Bhattakufar

Shimla, Nov 22 : Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap and Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi inspected the site of the road cave-in at Bhattakufar Chowk on Saturday, where an HRTC bus carrying school children narrowly avoided a major accident when its front tyre sank into the ground. The collapse is suspected to be linked to ongoing tunnel construction for the Kaithlighat–Shimla four-lane project.

In view of public safety, the district administration has ordered an immediate halt to all four-lane construction work in the area until further instructions. The company executing the project has been directed to stop operations completely. Locals have reported cracks in their houses, which were also inspected by the officials.

The Additional District Magistrate (Law & Order) and Additional SP have been instructed to submit a detailed report on the tunnel construction activity. The State Disaster Management Authority and Geological Survey of India will also be informed, and a comprehensive safety assessment will be carried out.
