Hamirpur, November 11: To promote natural farming, the Himachal Pradesh government will begin procurement of naturally grown maize at a premium support price. According to ATMA Project Director Dr. Nitin Sharma, maize produced through natural farming will be purchased at ₹40 per kg, along with ₹2 per kg transport subsidy.

The procurement will take place on November 15 at the Food Supplies Corporation godown in Nadaun, followed by the second round on November 17 at the Pakka Bharoh godown near Hamirpur.

The state has fixed special rates for naturally grown crops—₹40/kg for maize, ₹60/kg for wheat, and ₹90/kg for turmeric. Dr. Sharma said natural farming not only enhances farmers’ income but also improves soil fertility and ensures healthier produce.

To encourage this practice, the government offers subsidies including ₹25,000 for desi cow purchase, transport subsidy, assistance for cattle shed flooring, gomutra collection systems, and materials required for natural farming preparations.
