Education Minister Inaugurates New School Building in Deha

Shimla, November 10, 2025: Education Minister Rohit Thakur inaugurated the newly constructed building of Government Senior Secondary School Deha (Balsan), built at a cost of ₹2.87 crore. Addressing students, teachers, and locals, he said the state government is committed to providing quality education with improved infrastructure and modern facilities.

He highlighted that Himachal Pradesh has risen from 21st to 5th position in the NAS survey due to effective policies. The state also secured 1st position in the ASER report and 2nd in the PARAKH report. Literacy has increased from 7% in 1947 to 99.30% today. The government has introduced English from Class 1, launched the School Adoption Scheme, and ended the No-Detention Policy.

The minister said around 7,000 teachers have already been appointed, while recruitment for over 9,000 posts is underway. The education budget for this year is about ₹10,000 crore, nearly 18% of the state budget. He assured that furniture and additional facilities for the new building will be provided soon.

Rohit Thakur later attended the silver jubilee celebration of Gurukul Public School, releasing a commemorative souvenir and appreciating the school’s contribution to quality education. He stressed the importance of combining modern education with cultural values for holistic development.
