Himachal Government Advances Welfare Programs for Marginalized Communities

Shimla, October 24, 2025: Under the chairmanship of Ram Lal, Chairman of the 7th State Finance Commission and MLA Rampur, the district-level Welfare Committee met at Bachat Bhawan, Shimla, to review government welfare schemes for weaker sections. The meeting highlighted ongoing initiatives, budget allocations, and proposed increases in financial aid for programs such as the tailoring machine grant under the Follow-up Program.

Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap assured full administrative support to ensure the schemes reach intended beneficiaries. District Welfare Officer Kapil Sharma presented agenda items, and officials from law, protocol, SDM offices, and other departments attended.

The schemes discussed included the Swarn Jayanti Ashray Yojana, Follow-up Program, Disability Scholarships, Skill Development Training, Inter-caste Marriage Awards, Disability and Widow Pension Schemes, Leprosy Rehabilitation Allowance, Transgender Pension, and relief under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, ensuring financial aid, skill training, and social support for marginalized groups.
