Lavi Fair to Be Celebrated with Greater Cultural and Trade Significance: DC Anupam Kashyap

Deputy Commissioner Shimla and Chairman of the Lavi Fair, Anupam Kashyap, emphasized that enhancing the significance and traditional glory of the historic Lavi Fair in Rampur is a top priority for the district administration. Chairing a review meeting regarding the preparations, he stated that the fair is primarily a trade-oriented event, distinct from other regional fairs, and holds deep historical and cultural importance.
He directed officials to ensure timely allotment of stalls so that the fair appears vibrant from the very first day. Kashyap also instructed continuous inspection of goods and food items sold during the event to safeguard public health and safety.
Horse Exhibition from November 1 to 3
It was informed that the Equine Exhibition will be held from November 1 to 3, 2025, and neighboring states will also be invited to participate. The Deputy Commissioner directed the Animal Husbandry Department to conduct a workshop during the exhibition, adding that it remains one of the fair’s key attractions and deserves wider promotion.
Daily Inspection of Amusement Rides
To ensure visitors’ safety—particularly of children—Kashyap instructed that daily safety inspections of amusement rides be carried out by a dedicated committee.
Focus on Himachali Artists
Highlighting the need to promote local talent, Kashyap said that Himachali artists will be given priority during the cultural evenings to showcase the state’s rich art and heritage.
Special Visit for Children from Bal Ashram
Under the Mukhyamantri Sukh Ashraya Yojana, the DC directed the CDPO Sarahan to organize a special visit for children from Bal Ashram and other shelter homes, ensuring they enjoy the fair and its festivities.
Sports Events and Awareness Drive
Various sports activities, including kabaddi, boxing, badminton, and a mini marathon, will be organized during the fair. The mini marathon, themed around anti-drug awareness, will encourage both government and non-government members of the organizing committee to participate actively.
Traffic, Lighting, and Civic Directions
The Deputy Commissioner instructed the removal of abandoned vehicles along the National Highway from Khaneri Hospital to Nogli, raising the height of crash barriers near the Indira Market–Dhar Gaura diversion point, and avoiding the setup of stalls on both sides of the road from Safed Dhank to Dhar Gaura for smooth traffic flow. Directions were also issued to repair all street lights and ensure adequate drinking water and sanitation arrangements at the venue.
Improved Exhibitions Stressed by MLA Nand Lal
Chairman of the State 7th Finance Commission and MLA Rampur, Nand Lal, stressed that the departmental exhibitions during the Lavi Fair should be more informative and educational, highlighting various government schemes and development initiatives.
The meeting was also attended by SDM Rampur Harsh Amrendra Singh, DSP Naresh Sharma, DFO Rampur Gurharsh, Assistant Commissioner Devi Chand Thakur, District Language Officer Anil Harta, and other departmental officers and non-governmental committee members.
