HPNLU Shines at HPUILS Youth Parliament and Model United Nations

The students of Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, HPNLU Shimla, have brought laurels to the University by securing the Second Best Delegation Award at the Youth Parliament and Model United Nations organised by the HPU Institute of Legal Studies (HPUILS) on 16th and 17th October 2025. The two-day event was inaugurated by Hon’ble Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Shri Shiv Pratap Shukla, and was graced by the presence of Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, who attended as the Keynote Speaker. In her address during the inaugural session, Prof. Saxena deliberated on significant themes including “Right to Vote and the Role of the Election Commission under the Indian Constitution” and “Environmental Conservation in Himachal Pradesh”, emphasizing their constitutional and contemporary relevance.
A delegation of 20 students represented HPNLU Shimla in the competition under the overall coordination of Dr. Ved Prakash Sharma, Assistant Professor (Political Science) and Coordinator, Electoral Literacy Club (ELC). The event featured several committees such as the Lok Sabha, UNSC, UNGA, and Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly (HPLA), providing a platform for participants to engage in meaningful and intellectually enriching discussions on pressing national and international issues.
After two days of rigorous debates and deliberations, the HPNLU delegation emerged as the Second Best Delegation. Among the individual achievements, Ms. Bhavya Bansal was honoured as the Best Parliamentarian (Lok Sabha) and Ms. Aastha Budhiraja received the Best Delegate (UNSC) award. Additionally, Mr. Kartik Sharma, Mr. Purab Sharma, Mr. Sarthak Seth, and Mr. Pranav Tiwari earned Honourable Mentions for their outstanding contributions across various committees.
The University community extends its heartfelt congratulations to all the participants for their remarkable performance, dedication, and for bringing distinction to HPNLU Shimla. This achievement stands as a testament to the University’s unwavering commitment to nurturing analytical acumen, leadership, and civic consciousness among its students, in line with its vision of fostering excellence in legal education and research.
