St. Edward’s School Rings in Its Centenary with Alumni Reunion and Grand Festivities

Shimla, October 11: St. Edward’s School, Shimla, commenced its three-day centenary celebrations with grandeur and nostalgia, marking 100 years of academic excellence, discipline, and service to the nation. The festivities began with the launch of an anti-drug awareness campaign — “Kill the Urge for Drugs through Yoga” — from the historic Ridge Ground.

The milestone celebration saw an emotional reunion as alumni from across generations returned to their alma mater to honour the school’s rich legacy. A spirited March Past by ex-Edwardians and students set the tone for the day, followed by exciting track events and exhibition matches in cricket, basketball, and football.

The evening programme was a confluence of culture and emotion, featuring the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and a mesmerizing sitar recital by alumnus Dr. Gagandeep Hothi, disciple of Padma Bhushan Pt. Budhaditya Mukherjee. Bishop Ignatius Mascarenhas unveiled “The 100-Year Tapestry, Volumes 1 & 2,” authored by students and teachers.

St. Edward’s legacy continues to shine through its illustrious alumni, including former Vice President of India Mohammad Hamid Ansari, India’s first CDS Gen Bipin Rawat, World Bank President Ajay Banga, and Supreme Court Judge Justice Sanjay Karol.
