Heavy Rains Cause ₹340 Crore Loss in Una

Relief Ensured for Affected Families

Una, Sept 17 – The ongoing monsoon in Una district has caused damages worth nearly ₹340 crore due to heavy rains and landslides. Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal informed that the Public Works Department suffered losses of ₹191 crore, while the Jal Shakti Department and Swan New Flood Management Project reported damages of around ₹125 crore. Several private properties and families were also badly affected.

He said that under CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s directions, all affected families are being provided every possible support, with relief and restoration works in full swing. So far, 24 pucca and 81 kutcha houses have been fully damaged, while 381 pucca and 543 kutcha houses were partially affected. In addition, 35 shops and 503 cowsheds were damaged. Most roads have been restored, except in parts of Bangana where major landslides continue to hinder access.
