Heavy Rain Submerges Dharampur Bus Stand

Mandi, Sept 16: Heavy rains wreaked havoc in Mandi district’s Dharampur area late Monday night, causing the Son Khad river to swell dangerously. The Dharampur bus stand was completely submerged, with several Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) buses and private vehicles swept away in the strong currents. Many houses and shops near the riverbanks were also inundated, forcing residents to move to rooftops for safety. A hostel with nearly 150 children had to be evacuated to upper floors. Rescue teams and police worked overnight to shift people to safer locations. Authorities confirmed that while no major casualties have been reported so far, one person is missing, and damage to vehicles and property is extensive.
