1 min read

Chandigarh/Shimla, September 11: Former Union Minister and MP from Hamirpur, Anurag Singh Thakur, hailed the victory of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in Punjab University’s student union elections, where the organisation secured the president’s post for the first time in history. He termed the win a symbol of “nationalism once again unfurling at Punjab University” and praised ABVP for working not only on nation-building but also on character-building.

Thakur said the triumph was the result of ABVP’s “48 years of penance and dedication,” marking a new chapter for both student and national interests. Congratulating ABVP workers and students who placed faith in the organisation, he noted that ABVP has grown into the world’s largest disciplined and nationalist student organisation, with over 55 lakh members.

Lashing out at leftist ideology, Thakur asserted that “Himachal will never tolerate poisonous communist ideology staining its pure traditions.” He added that under PM Narendra Modi’s leadership, India has achieved new heights in economy, space, and global standing. He cited key milestones such as the abrogation of Article 370, the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, and India’s decisive strikes against terrorism as symbols of national resurgence.

Thakur also slammed the Congress and opposition parties as “morally corrupt and suspicious,” accusing them of siding with foreign powers over national interest. He said the opposition has declared “a jihad against Indian democracy,” but the people of India are ready to teach them a lesson.
