190 Illegal LPG Cylinders Seized in Shimla; Four Fake Gas Agencies Under Probe

Shimla, Sept 7 — Acting on a tip-off, District Magistrate Anupam Kashyap ordered a raid that led to the seizure of 190 illegal LPG cylinders and a truck at Bhattakufar. The operation, led by ADM (Law & Order) Pankaj Sharma, involved police, food & civil supplies officials, and enforcement teams.

The truck, belonging to Confidence Petroleum Ltd. (Mohali), was supplying cylinders to four agencies in Shimla — Himalayan Gas Agency (Shoghi & Kufri), Ishita Gas Agency (Tutu), and Cup Rate Gas Agency (Sanjauli). Investigations revealed that none of these agencies possessed the mandatory exclusive certificates, raising serious safety concerns.

Earlier, on August 26, authorities had seized 361 illegal cylinders in a similar crackdown near SJVNL Office, Shanan.

The DC confirmed that strict action is underway, and the role of the Mohali-based supplier is under scrutiny. He emphasized that unauthorized LPG supply poses a serious risk to public safety, warning that violators of safety protocols will face punitive measures.
