Idol Immersion Restricted at Govind Sagar Lake Amid Rising Water Levels

Bilaspur, Sept 6, 2025 – In view of continuous rainfall and rising water levels in Govind Sagar Lake, District Magistrate & Chairman, District Disaster Management Authority Rahul Kumar has issued orders under Section 34 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 regarding idol immersion.

As per the order, only 2–3 persons will be allowed within a 50-meter radius of the lake shore for idol immersion. Large gatherings are strictly prohibited. Immersion will only take place at designated safe spots under the supervision of local administration, police, and home guards. Entry into deep waters or unauthorized areas is strictly banned.

Authorities have been directed to ensure strict compliance. Any violation will invite action under the Disaster Management Act, 2005, IPC Section 188, and other relevant laws.
