Education Minister Rohit Thakur Reviews Disaster Damage in Jubbal-Kotkhai

Shimla, September 6, 2025 – Education Minister Rohit Thakur visited Jubbal-Kotkhai to assess the damage caused by recent heavy rains and chaired a review meeting with senior officials at Kotkhai. He informed that 73 houses in Jubbal subdivision, 41 in Kotkhai, and 29 in Tikkar were affected, along with significant damage to roads, electricity, and water supply schemes. NH-705 and NH-707 alone suffered losses worth ₹37 crore, while road damages across subdivisions exceeded ₹100 crore. Thakur emphasized that restoring apple transportation during the peak season and ensuring public safety are top priorities. He directed officials to expedite road restoration by deploying additional machinery and manpower. HPMC is smoothly running 77 procurement centres under MIS for apple purchases. Efforts are underway to restore all essential services within a week to minimize disruption to daily life.
