Chamba : DC Mukesh Leads from Front, Ensures Swift Restoration

Chamba, Sept. 01 – District Collector Mukesh Repswal is personally monitoring restoration efforts in Chamba district following heavy rainfall, overseeing the work of officials and field staff across various departments. Despite challenging weather and difficult terrain, substantial progress has been made in restoring electricity, water supply, and road connectivity. Most areas now have power and water, while teams continue to work tirelessly to restore services in remaining regions.
Under the Collector’s guidance, officials are also ensuring worker safety and providing on-ground support. The PWD is actively working on national highways, including NH 154A, and rural roads, with teams deployed round-the-clock.
Electricity Department Superintending Engineer Rajiv Thakur reported that over 80% of transformers in the district were operational by August 31, including the 33 kVA Dharwala substation supplying electricity to 85 transformers. Power supply to an additional 50 transformers is expected to be restored by the evening. PWD Superintending Engineer Divakar Singh Pathania confirmed continuous efforts to reopen all roads swiftly, while Jal Shakti Superintending Engineer Rajesh Mongra stated that most affected drinking water schemes have been partially restored, with teams working to fully restore supply to all areas.
