HPNLU Shimla Inaugurates NCC Unit; Successfully Completes First-Year Cadet Selection

Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla proudly announces the successful introduction of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) on campus under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, HPNLU, Shimla. Marking a significant milestone in the holistic development of students, the first-year selection process of NCC cadets was completed on 28th Aug 2025.
The inclusion of NCC at HPNLU is a major step towards instilling discipline, leadership, patriotism, and a sense of national service among law students. The selection process, held on campus, witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various academic years. The selected cadets will now undergo formal NCC training under the 7 HP (I) Coy NCC, which will encompass physical training, drills, leadership-building activities, and community service initiatives.
Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena emphasized the importance of NCC in fostering a sense of civic responsibility and commitment to the nation among young legal professionals. She expressed confidence that the establishment of NCC at HPNLU will not only contribute to the character-building of students but also broaden their perspectives in public service and legal ethics.
Dr. Rohit Sharma, CTO-NCC, extended his appreciation to all students who took part in the selection process and congratulated the newly selected cadets. He highlighted that the NCC unit at HPNLU will work closely with local NCC battalions and will soon initiate its training and outreach programs. The university looks forward to the active involvement of its NCC cadets in various activities that align with the motto of the NCC – “Unity and Discipline.”
