Schools in Nichar Sub-Division, Kinnaur Closed on September 1 Due to Heavy Rainfall

Reckong Peo, August 31 – District Magistrate Dr. Amit Kumar Sharma has ordered the closure of all government and private educational institutions, including schools, Anganwadi Centres, colleges, and ITIs in Nichar Sub-Division, Bhabanagar, on September 1, 2025, due to continuous heavy rainfall.

The IMD has issued an Orange Alert for Kinnaur district till September 2. Landslides, rising river levels, and road blockages have made travel unsafe. Authorities have instructed that teaching and non-teaching staff should not be forced to attend physically if road travel is risky, but academic support must continue through online or offline means.

The District Administration has directed officials to ensure safety and continuity of education while prioritizing the well-being of students.
