Red Alert: All Schools, Colleges to Remain Closed in Hamirpur on Sept 1

Hamirpur, August 31 – In view of continuous heavy rainfall and a Red Alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for September 1, Deputy Commissioner Amarjeet Singh (IAS) has ordered the closure of all Government and Private educational institutions in District Hamirpur, including schools, colleges, ITIs, polytechnics, nursing and vocational institutes, and Anganwadis. However, residential colleges and medical education institutes are exempted.

The order has been issued under the Disaster Management Act, 2005, as a precautionary measure against potential landslides, waterlogging, and road blockages, which pose risks to student safety. Authorities have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the order.
