Development Should Not Lead to Destruction: Vikramaditya

Shimla, August 31, 2025: Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh inaugurated a three-day Under-14 Boys and Girls sports competition of Kasumpti block at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Ghanahatti.
Addressing the gathering, Singh said development should never come at the cost of destruction. He highlighted the Rs 800 crore loss suffered in the state due to recent disasters and stressed adopting an environment-friendly development model. He urged that debris be disposed of only at designated sites and sacred “Dev Sthals” remain free from pollution.
Singh emphasized the importance of balancing studies with sports and outlined government initiatives such as Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding Schools, smart classrooms, and vocational courses to empower students.
He announced Rs 5 lakh for interlocking tiles in the school premises and Rs 15 lakh for the renovation of the wrestling ground, along with exploring the possibility of setting up an indoor stadium. About 400 students from 17 schools are participating in the competition, which will conclude on September 3.
