1 min read

Shimla, August 30, 2025: Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap announced that dairy cooperative societies will be established at the panchayat level across Shimla district to strengthen the rural economy and support livestock farmers. In the first phase, 57 panchayats have been selected, out of which 8 have already completed the formation of societies.

Chairing the District Dairy Development Committee meeting, the DC directed Block Development Officers to complete the registration process of selected panchayats by September 10. Each society must have at least 11 members and comply with Milk Federation norms and feasibility certification.

The selection of 57 panchayats was based on an internal survey by the Animal Husbandry Department, identifying villages producing more than 200 liters of milk daily. The committee headed by the DC will oversee implementation, budgeting, monitoring, and coordination among departments.
