Shimla, August 14, 2025 — As part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, a Mega Dog Vaccination Drive is being jointly organised in Shimla by Humane People NGO (Rampur), Mission Rabies, Shimla Municipal Corporation, and the Himachal Pradesh Animal Husbandry Department.
The campaign will run from August 15 to 29, 2025, covering all 34 wards of the Shimla Municipal Corporation, with the goal of vaccinating around 4,000 stray dogs against rabies. International organisation Mission Rabies, working towards rabies eradication worldwide, is conducting this drive in Himachal Pradesh for the first time.
The initiative will be officially launched on August 15, 2025, by Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, in the presence of the Hon’ble Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Shimla Municipal Corporation. Following the inauguration, vaccination vehicles will be flagged off to commence operations.
Officials emphasised that this drive is a crucial step towards rabies control and reflects both animal welfare and humanitarian values. Citizens are encouraged to support and facilitate the campaign.
