Shoolini University Hosts 3-Day International Workshop on Criminal Justice System

Solan, August 10 — The Faculty of Legal Science at Shoolini University, in collaboration with Royal Holloway, University of London, successfully concluded a three-day workshop on “Criminal Justice System in Practice.” The event brought together international expertise and local context, offering students, LL.M., and Ph.D. scholars an in-depth understanding of legal theory, research, and real-world justice challenges.
Key sessions by Dr. Shailesh Kumar, a criminologist and Lecturer in Law at Royal Holloway, explored topics such as theories of punishment, law and inequality, juvenile justice, and structural barriers in India’s legal system. Students engaged in case-based learning, critical discussions on caste and class, and received personalised research guidance.
The workshop, inaugurated by Chancellor Prof. P K Khosla and Associate Dean Prof. (Dr.) Nandan Sharma, also included faculty interactions, a visit to the Yogananda Knowledge Centre, and a symbolic tree plantation drive. Convenors Ms. Meghna Thakur and Ms. Palak Sharma emphasized the importance of viewing law as a dynamic force shaping lives.
