Heavy Rains Wreak Havoc in Himachal; Landslides Kill Two, Roads Blocked Across Multiple Districts

Heavy monsoon rains have once again lashed Himachal Pradesh, triggering landslides, flash floods, and widespread disruption. In Chamba district, a landslide claimed the lives of a newlywed couple. Red alerts have been issued in five districts, with Mandi’s Seraj valley facing flood-like conditions. Schools in Thunag region of Mandi have been closed as a precautionary measure.
The Chandigarh–Manali National Highway is blocked due to landslides near 4 Mile and Hotel Moon. In Thalout, a massive slide near a petrol pump buried a Fortuner vehicle under debris. Kullu and Sirmaur districts also reported landslides, disrupting rural connectivity. NH-305 in Ani subdivision and the Ropa–Sainj road are closed due to road subsidence and landslides.
Authorities have urged travelers to use alternative routes and remain cautious.
