Jairam Questions Cabinet Absence

Kullu/Lahaul, June 28: Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur has raised concerns over the absence of nearly half the ministers from the recent state cabinet meeting. Thakur questioned whether it was due to personal engagements or an intentional boycott, especially during the monsoon crisis, which has caused widespread damage in the state.
Speaking from Kullu, Thakur highlighted the importance of cabinet unity and claimed that such absenteeism undermines leadership at a time when urgent disaster response and governance are crucial.
Thakur is currently in Lahaul with Union Minister Kiren Rijiju for the foundation stone laying ceremonies of various central development projects. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the central government for allocating ₹108 crore for Lahaul-Spiti and ₹15 crore for Kinnaur under the PM Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK). He noted that key projects like a high-altitude sports center in Spiti, an ice skating rink, and a ₹26 crore sewage treatment plant in Keylong are set to begin.
