One-Day Workshop on ‘Environmental Studies’ Organized at Dayanand Public School

Shimla, May 24: A one-day workshop on Environmental Studies was organized at Dayanand Public School, Shimla, under the CBSE Centre of Excellence, Panchkula. The workshop aimed at raising awareness and promoting creativity and inquiry regarding immediate and broader environmental contexts.

The program commenced with the DAV anthem and the honoring of resource persons. School Principal Neelam Deshwal welcomed the guests and participants, emphasizing the urgent need for environmental awareness and proactive steps for its preservation.

Resource persons Beena Berry and Vegha Sharma conducted sessions on sustainable development, curriculum perspectives, and the role of environmental science in today’s education. The workshop included discussions on Bhutan’s conservation model, showcasing it as an exemplary effort in protecting natural resources, forests, and wildlife.

Various activities and group discussions were held on how to make environmental studies engaging in the classroom and how to instill awareness among children. Case studies and interactive methods were used to reflect on critical environmental issues.

The workshop concluded with feedback from the participants. Principal Deshwal expressed gratitude to the resource persons and encouraged teachers to incorporate the day’s learnings into their classrooms. She urged educators to embrace innovative strategies to make teaching more insightful and knowledge-driven, remarking that “a great teacher builds a happy classroom.”
