Shimla, 03 March
Himachal Pradesh’s biggest cricket tournament, Pro Himachal Premium Cricket League (Pro HPCL), has begunf Season 3 with a major environmental initiative. The league organizers have decided to plant one tree for every run scored throughout the tournament. This step is a significant move towards making Himachal greener and promoting environmental conservation.
In the last season, a total of 7,200 runs were scored, and with the expansion from 16 to 20 teams this year, the organizers expect around 9,000 runs to be made in the entire tournament. To ensure the success of this initiative, Pro HPCL is collaborating with the Himachal Pradesh government and several NGOs. After the league concludes, a special 7-day tree plantation drive will be conducted, during which trees will be planted in proportion to the total runs scored in the tournament.
Registrations for Pro HPCL Season 3 are already open, with more than 500 players having registered so far. It is also important to note that this season will feature only players from Himachal Pradesh, providing a platform for local cricketing talent to shine.
Pro HPCL co-founder Veenu Diwan stated, “Pro HPCL is not just a cricket tournament; it is a medium to bring about positive change in society. While we aim to take cricket in Himachal to new heights, we are also fulfilling our responsibility towards environmental conservation. Our initiative of planting a tree for every run will not only make the game more exciting but will also contribute to a greener Himachal.”
Co-founder of Pro HPCL Ajay Thakur added, “We sincerely thank all our franchise owners, players, and cricket lovers of Himachal for making this initiative a reality. This season, the league will be even more thrilling, and our tree plantation initiative will be a historic step in enhancing the green cover of the state.”
Pro HPCL is Himachal Pradesh’s biggest white leather ball cricket league, played in an IPL-style format. Every year, it has proven to be a major platform for the state’s cricketing talent. With additional teams and new exciting rules this season, the league is set to be more competitive and exhilarating than ever before.
