Thakur Slams Sukhu Govt for Ignoring Centre’s Biogas Plant Proposal

1 min read

Shimla, Feb 13: Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur has accused the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led government of deliberately keeping Himachal Pradesh away from Central government schemes. He stated that the Sukhu government is neither sending proposals nor taking advantage of beneficial schemes.

Thakur referred to a Rajya Sabha discussion, where Union Minister Shripad Naik revealed that the Himachal Pradesh government has not sent any proposal for establishing biogas plants in the state. The Centre provides ₹4 crore for setting up a 4,800 kg/day biogas plant and ₹3 crore for existing ones, yet the state government has not applied for funding.

He criticized the Congress government for ignoring green energy projects, despite frequently talking about making Himachal a Green State. He accused CM Sukhu of misleading the public and falsely claiming that the Centre is not supporting the state. He pointed out that under the PM Suryodaya Yojana, 1.55 lakh people in Himachal have registered, with 5,500 applications approved and 1,150 solar plants installed, generating 4,052 kW of power.

Thakur also accused the government of not promoting Ayushman Bharat, which provides health coverage for people over 70 years. He urged the state government to adopt a positive approach towards Central schemes to benefit the people of Himachal Pradesh.
