District Vigilance Committee Discusses Issues of Bonded and Child Labor
1 min readShimla, February 8: A meeting of the District Vigilance Committee, constituted under Section 13 of the Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act, 1976, was held today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Shimla, Anupam Kashyap. The meeting focused on the issues of bonded labor and child labor.
The Deputy Commissioner stated that no case of bonded labor has been reported in Shimla district so far. He urged all committee members to remain vigilant and immediately report any instances of bonded or child labor for appropriate action. He emphasized the crucial role of local representatives and NGOs in addressing such concerns, stating that bonded and child labor are serious offenses that cannot be ignored.
He further directed department officials to conduct awareness workshops for laborers regarding their rights and the legal aspects of bonded and child labor.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Magistrate (Protocol) Jyoti Rana, District Labor Officer Inder Lal Negi, and other committee members.
