CM Misleading Public on NABARD Funds: BJP Leader Randhir Sharma
1 min readShimla, 4 February 2025 – Senior BJP leader and Naina Devi MLA Randhir Sharma accused Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu of misleading the public regarding NABARD funds. Addressing a press conference, Sharma claimed that the BJP legislators boycotted the planning meetings because, for the past two years, NABARD funding has been systematically denied to BJP-held constituencies.
Sharma alleged that despite the CM’s claims about substantial allocations to BJP constituencies, the actual data tells a different story. The CM presented figures such as ₹50 crore for Seraj, ₹124 crore for Naina Devi, ₹127 crore for Karsog, ₹82 crore for Sundernagar, ₹45 crore for Nachan, ₹50 crore for Jogindernagar, ₹33 crore for Mandi, and ₹173 crore for Jaswan Pragpur. However, Sharma insisted that these figures are baseless, as no new schemes in BJP constituencies have been sanctioned in the past two years.
Bias in Fund Allocation
Sharma further alleged that NABARD-approved project criteria were changed after the Congress government came to power. Previously, projects were sanctioned in the order they were submitted by departments like PWD and Jal Shakti. However, the CM now reportedly reprioritizes projects before NABARD meetings, favoring only Congress constituencies.
The BJP leader demanded transparency in fund distribution and an immediate end to political bias in development projects.
