Chamba, BJP MLA Dr. Janak Raj stated that a program for the Constitution Gaurav Abhiyan was organized in the Bharmour Assembly Tri-Lochan Mahadev Mandal. During the event, while recalling the contributions of Babasaheb, he highlighted that the Congress party has always disrespected Babasaheb’s dignity, both during his lifetime and after his death, and never gave him the respect he truly deserved.
Dr. Janak Raj further mentioned a shameful incident during the UPA-2 regime in 2012, where an NCERT textbook depicted a humiliating image of Pandit Nehru allegedly “whipping” Babasaheb Ambedkar. He questioned why Rahul Gandhi, who talks about respecting Babasaheb, remains silent on this disgrace. “This is just a political drama with crocodile tears to mislead the public. Congress has always crushed Babasaheb’s principles,” he added. He also pointed out how Congress had undermined the core values of the Constitution during the Emergency, ignored women’s empowerment, and disrespected the judiciary.
Dr. Janak Raj referred to a Sanskrit verse, “Kusangat Krutam Apya Shuddham,” meaning “Actions performed under bad influence are also impure.” He said that Kharge Ji, a senior Congress leader, should understand this, as the company he keeps nowadays has already caused a setback to the political careers of several leaders.
He criticized Congress as being opposed to Babasaheb Ambedkar, reservation, and the Constitution, whereas the BJP has worked towards the implementation of Babasaheb’s policies, safeguarding his objectives, and enhancing the Constitution. He also pointed out that while Congress has built monuments in the names of Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Sanjay Gandhi, and Rajiv Gandhi, no effort has been made to create a memorial for Babasaheb Ambedkar. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government has developed five pilgrimage sites related to Babasaheb’s life: Mhow in Madhya Pradesh, the London Memorial (where Babasaheb studied), Deekshabhoomi in Nagpur, Mahaparinirvan Sthal in Delhi, and Chaitya Bhoomi in Mumbai.
