Himachal’s 108 Ambulance: 3 Years, 4 Lakh Lives Saved

The 108 National Ambulance Service in Himachal Pradesh, operated by Medswan Foundation in collaboration with the National Health Mission (NHM) and the state government, celebrated its third anniversary this January 15, 2025. This service has been a lifeline for residents, offering free, round-the-clock emergency medical assistance.
In just three years, the service has handled over 4,01,750 emergencies, averaging one emergency every 4 minutes. With a fleet of 248 ambulances under NAS-108 and 148 under JSSK-102, the service responds to over 2,000 calls daily and assists with approximately 375 emergencies, including three childbirths every day.
The 108 Ambulance Service has had a profound impact on maternal healthcare, managing 73,770 pregnancy-related emergencies and ensuring 2,873 safe deliveries. Additionally, the service has handled over 41,000 respiratory cases, 30,000+ cardiac emergencies, and 15,500+ trauma cases, among others.
