Action Against Officials for False Claims Over Injection Issue: Jairam Thakur

Shimla, 20 January 2025 – Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur has demanded strict action from Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu against officials involved in fabricating false narratives regarding the tragic death of Devaraj Sharma due to unavailability of an injection. Thakur condemned the insensitive behavior of such officials, accusing them of maligning the victim’s family to cover up the government’s failures.
Jairam Thakur criticized the administration for failing to provide the necessary injection in time and for later accusing the grieving family of negligence. He called it inhumane and unacceptable, urging the government to issue an apology to the bereaved family.
Highlighting the larger issue of the deteriorating healthcare system, Thakur stated that the IGMC and other state hospitals are facing severe shortages of medicines and operational delays. He emphasized that the government’s focus should be on resolving these issues rather than indulging in baseless accusations.
The Leader of Opposition also questioned the government’s claims about treatment expenses under the Him Care scheme, pointing out that it was the state’s obligation, not a favor. He demanded immediate improvements in healthcare services to prevent such incidents in the future.
