Rahul Gandhi’s Statement Equivalent to a War Against the Nation: Jairam Thakur
1 min readShimla, 16 January 2025: Leader of Opposition and former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s recent remarks at the inauguration of the Congress headquarters, terming them as a declaration of war against the nation. Thakur stated that Gandhi’s comment, “We are fighting the Indian state itself,” reflects an anti-national mindset.
Thakur expressed disappointment, highlighting that such statements, especially from a leader of Gandhi’s stature, are unacceptable and demand an apology to the nation. “Opposing the Prime Minister doesn’t justify opposing the nation,” he remarked, calling Gandhi’s statement a direct attack on India’s sovereignty and democratic values.
The BJP leader also questioned the silence of Himachal’s Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, who were present during the event. “Why didn’t they oppose Rahul Gandhi’s statement? Does their silence imply agreement?” he asked.
Jairam Thakur urged the Himachal government to clarify its stance on Gandhi’s statement and demanded the Congress leader retract his words, which he termed as an insult to the sacrifices and valor of the Indian armed forces celebrated nationwide on Army Day.
