All Disaster Reports to Be Updated Within a Week: Anupam Kashyap
1 min readShimla, Jan 15: Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap chaired a review meeting of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), directing officials to update disaster reports from 2016 to date within a week. He emphasized appointing specific employees to collate reports based on incidents and ensure timely updates.
The meeting discussed relief efforts and actions taken by various departments for those affected by natural disasters. It was also decided to review whether victims received the promised government assistance.
A detailed report on losses incurred and the current status of recovery will be prepared for further review in the next meeting. The DC stressed the importance of immediate reporting and updates after any disaster to ensure proper evaluation of relief work and pending needs.
Key statistics presented included major disasters from 2016 to 2024, highlighting significant human and livestock casualties, property damage, and relief measures. Notable incidents include:
– 2017: 7 deaths, 18 sheep lost.
– 2018: 47 houses damaged, 161 livestock deaths.
– 2023: 38 fatalities, significant property losses.
– 2024: 36 deaths due to cloudbursts, extensive damage to 49 houses and 11 cowsheds.
Additional District Magistrate Jyoti Rana, District Revenue Officer Sanjeev Sharma, and other officials attended the meeting.
