Youth’s Role in Road Safety is Crucial: Anupam Kashyap

Shimla, Jan 8: Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap emphasized the vital role of youth in road safety during the closing ceremony of the “Seemavarti Yuva Adan Pradan” program organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra Shimla at Udasin Ashram Banuti.

Addressing the participants, Kashyap highlighted that most road accident victims are youth who often neglect traffic rules. He urged them to become responsible citizens by adhering to speed limits, wearing helmets, and following traffic signals. He stressed the importance of youth educating their communities about road safety, especially during the ongoing Road Safety Month campaign in Shimla until January 31.

Kashyap also called for youth to lead environmental conservation efforts, citing climate change as a major challenge. He emphasized incorporating eco-friendly practices into daily routines and staying disciplined to achieve personal and national goals.

The program, held from January 4 to 8, included participation from 25 youths representing Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir, and Rajasthan. The event concluded with certificate distribution to participants and cultural performances.

District Youth Officer Manisha Sharma honored the chief guest with a shawl, cap, and memento. Other notable attendees included social worker Sanjeev Sood, Panchayat Pradhan Devendra Thakur, and program assistant Anurag.
