Tehri Water Sports Cup 2024: CM Dhami Lauds THDCIL’s Role in Boosting Sports and Tourism
1 min readRishikesh, 13-Dec-2024: The 3rd edition of the Tehri Water Sports Cup 2024 concluded with immense enthusiasm at THDCIL’s Tehri Dam Reservoir in Tehri-Garhwal. Hon’ble CM of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, graced the grand closing ceremony and praised THDCIL for successfully organizing the event for the third consecutive year.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Dhami emphasized Tehri Dam’s dual role in power generation and its emergence as a global water sports and tourism hub. He expressed confidence in the athletes’ potential to achieve international glory, applauding their performances during the championship.
R.K. Vishnoi, CMD, THDCIL, extended gratitude to Shri Dhami for his unwavering support. He highlighted THDCIL’s commitment to socio-economic development through initiatives like the Tehri Water Sports Cup and the High-Performance Academy at Koteshwar, fostering local talent for national and international platforms.
The four-day event witnessed participation from over 500 athletes across 22 states, competing in 126 races, showcasing exceptional sportsmanship.
THDCIL, a Schedule-A Mini Ratna PSU, is also nearing completion of two landmark projects—the 1,000 MW Tehri Pumped Storage Plant and the 1,320 MW Khurja Super Thermal Power Plant—furthering its leadership in India’s energy sector.
